Persandingan Penelitian Studi Kasus terkait Perubahan Third Place di Era Digital
Abstract

Case study research is a type of qualitative research that can be used to obtain findings and in-depth explanations regarding contemporary phenomena and issues that occurs in modern society. One of the issues is related to the nature of social place which has begun to be influenced by digital lifestyle. The third place, which according to Oldenburg has characteristics as a meeting place for people to socialize casually and informally, is starting to experience a form shifting. The behavioural changes can be seen from the users who also conduct remote working, social media browsing and virtual conversation in the third place. Qualitative research with a case study approach can be found as an effort to formulate new definitions of third place. In order to be able to see the characteristics of the research that has been done, a review was carried out on five publications related to third places in the digital era. The research designs are being compared to see the similarity and the diversity of the study objects, objectives, characteristics, approaches, unit analysis, data sources, observer, participant, scope of observation, and validation. The comparison of this case studies shows that there are various variations of research designs that can be carried out further, where these alternative approaches can become the basis for research exploration in the future.
