Abstract

United Nation have set climate change and unsustainable natural resources exploitation that increase every year as global issues that need to be resolved. Exploitation of natural resources to fulfill consumptive lifestyle is the cause of this problem. Therefore, the concept of sustainable development is introduced as a solution, \which is a development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generation to meet their own needs. Sustainability is not only in the form of healthy environment but also including politic, economy, and culture. However, because it’s almost synonymous with sacrificing amenities, holistic sustainability is not widely applied. From there, the concept of hedonistic sustainability emerges to address this problem.  Hedonistic sustainability is a way to be sustainable without sacrificing quality of life, and even increase it. The research use explorative and descriptive method, which is using literature studies to describe different way to apply hedonistic sustainability concept. After that, this paper explores existing project about material choice, mixed-use programming, and city planning. The result shows positive feedback from its users shown by the increase of happiness level and tendency to have a healthy lifestyle.
