PENGARUH TEMPERATUR INFILTRASI PADA PEMBUATAN KOMPOSIT Zn + MgO

Pada pembuatan material komposit matrik logam (Metal Matrix Composite) dengan pendispersianmaterial penguat pada matrik, diantaranya adalah dengan teknik infiltrasi yaitu teknik dengan temperaturpemanasan yang mempengaruhi kinetika infiltrasi dengan mengendalikan secara ketat prosesnya sehinggainfiltrasi terjadi secara spontan tanpa bantuan tekanan maupun vakum.Matrik yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah seng murni (Special High Grade) sedangkanpenguatnya digunakan penguat partikel dari bahan keramik yaitu magnesia oksida (MgO). Variasitemperatur pemanasan infiltrasi yang digunakan adalah 600, 700 dan 800°C. Pengamatan karakteristikmeliputi kekerasan, kekuatan tarik dan struktur mikro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kekerasan dankekuatan tarik tertinggi pada temeperatur pemanasan infiltrasi 800°C yaitu 66,4 BHN. Adapun ukuranbutir terbesar pada struktur mikro dengan temperatur pemanasan 600 °C yaitu 0,9 mm.References
