Proses perpindahan panas pada peralatan penukar kalor berlangsung secara konveksi, sehingga dalampenentuan dimensi serta susunan pipa-pipa pada peralatan tersebut sangat tergantung dari viskositasfluida disamping ketergantungannya pada sifat-sifat termal fluida tersebut (konduktivitas termal, kalorspesifik, densitas). Hal ini disebabkan karena viskositas mempengaruhi profil kecepatan, dan karena itumempengaruhi laju perpindahan energi panas di daerah dinding.Laju aliran massa fluida (m) yang melewati permukaan silinder yang disusun secara zigzag / staggereddari bukaan katup 2 cm hingga 10 cm cenderung mengalami kenaikan, tetapi pada bukaan katup 12 cmhingga 18 cm nilainya selalu tetap. Pada kondisi ini (bukaan katup 12 cm s/d 18 cm) nilai laju aliranmassanya tercatat paling tinggi sebesar 1823,341096 kg/dt.References
