Salah satu proses pembentukan yang banyak digunakan saat ini adalah proses forging (tempa). Proses tempamerupakan proses pembentukan logam dengan cara penekanan ke dalam suatu cetakan sehingga logamtersebut membentuk profil sesuai dengan pola pada cetakan, sehingga terbentuk suatu produk. Pada prosesforging ini menggunakan cetakan permanent yang terbuat dari logam baja.Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bahan Aluminium paduan dengan memvariasikan temperatur forging mulai350°C, 400°C, 450°C dan 500°C. Perbedaan sifat mekanis diamati melalui beberapa pengujian yangmeliputi: pengujian tarik dan kekerasan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa temperatur forging mulai dari 350°C, 400°C, 450°C dan 500°C, nilaikekuatan tarik dan kekerasan yang dihasilkan cenderung semakin menurun. Hal ini disebabkan karenasemakin tinggi temperatur pada proses forging maka pergerakan dislokasi akan semakin mudah sehinggadapat menurunkan kekuatan tarik dan kekerasannnya.References
