PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN VARIASI JENIS BAHAN PENGIKAT DAN NILAI PERMEABILITAS CETAKAN PASIR BASAH TERHADAP CACAT LUBANG HALUS HASIL COR ALUMINIUM PADUAN SERI 201,1

Bahan pengikat dapat menimbulkan kebasahan cetakan pasir dan berpengaruh terhadap nilai permeabilitas.Perbedaan kebasahan cetakan pasir dan nilai permeabilitas dapat mempengaruhi aliran gelembung gas danuap air yang ditimbulkan logam cair untuk keluar dari dalam cetakan. Gelembung gas dan uap air tersebut,dapat menimbulkan cacat lubang halus pada bagian luar dan bagian dalam hasil cor. Penelitian yangdilakukan menitikberatkan pada pemakaian variasi jenis bahan pengikat (binder) sebagai upaya untukmengurangi terjadinya cacat lubang halus pada hasil cor. Komposisi cetakan pasir basah, terdiri atas: (a) pasirsungai 86,58%, (b) bentonit 6%, (c) bahan pengikat (gulas tetes, gula pasir, dan gula merah) dengankomposisi yang sama 3%, dan (d) air 4,42%. Tujuan penelitian yang dilakukan menganalisa danmembandingkan pengaruh pemakaian gula tetes, gula pasir, gula merah dan nilai permeabilitas cetakan pasirbasah terhadap cacat lubang halus hasil cor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, cetakan pasir basahdengan pengikat gula merah mencapai nilai permeabilitas terendah sebesar 822,12 ml/cm3.menit denganpersentase cacat lubang halus rata-rata 6% dan nilai permeabilitas tertinggi pada cetakan pasir basah denganpengikat gula pasir mencapai 1043, 09 ml/cm3.menit dengan persentase cacat lubang halus rata-rata 7,5%.References
