Dalam inovasi teknologi pada masa ini, perusahaan-perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang Migas (minyak dan gas) diwajibkan untuk memperhatikan keselamatan baik karyawannya maupun aset produksi dari perusahaan tersebut. Seperti halnya dilapangan gas SPU (South Processing Unit) yang dikelola TOTAL E&P INDONESIE sejak tahun 2010. Perawatan asset-aset produksi sangat diperhatikan sebagai penunjang produktivitas perusahaan. Seperti diketahui bahaya-bahaya yang dapat terjadi pada perusahaan minyak dan gas yaitu kebakaran, gas bocor, hingga terjadi suatu ledakan. Bahaya-bahaya tersebut dapat dicegah dengan sistem proteksi yang baik. Sebagai contoh jika terjadi suatu kebakaran, ada suatu sistem yang mampu menanggulangi peristiwa tersebut agar tidak terjadi kerugian yang besar bagi perusahaan tersebut. Sistem tersebut dikenal sebagai sistem pemadam kebakaran.
