Post-Publication Discussion

JP (Jurnal Penelitian), published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) at the University of Merdeka Malang, encourages post-publication academic debate and discussion. We recognize that scholarly publishing is an ongoing dialogue and that errors, omissions, or new insights may arise after an article has been published.

To ensure the integrity, transparency, and accuracy of the scholarly record, JP (Jurnal Penelitian) provides formal mechanisms for post-publication discussion, corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern, following the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Post-Publication Discussions (Letters to the Editor)

Readers, researchers, and academics are welcome to submit comments, critiques, or discussions regarding articles published in JP (Jurnal Penelitian).

  • Submission Format: Discussions must be submitted in writing as a Letter to the Editor directly via email to [email protected].

  • Academic Merit: Comments must be scholarly, objective, concise, and focused on specific scientific or methodological aspects of the published paper. Personal critiques or non-academic commentary will not be accepted.

  • Author Response: The original author(s) of the paper will be invited to submit a formal response/rebuttal to the critique.

  • Publication: Both the critique and the authors' response may be published simultaneously in a subsequent issue of the journal after peer review by the Editorial Board.

2. Corrections (Corrigenda and Errata)

When genuine errors or oversights are identified in a published article, JP (Jurnal Penelitian) will issue a formal correction to ensure the accuracy of the scientific record.

  • Erratum (Publisher Error): Issued if an error was introduced by the editorial or publishing team during typesetting, formatting, or production that significantly affects the content or readability of the paper.

  • Corrigendum (Author Error): Issued if a significant error was made by the author(s) (e.g., mislabeled figures, minor data errors, omitted acknowledgments, or author affiliation updates) that does not invalidate the core findings of the study.

  • Implementation: Corrections are published as a separate document in the latest issue, linked directly to the original article. The original PDF will remain accessible with a clear notice indicating that a correction has been issued.

3. Expressions of Concern

The Editor-in-Chief may issue an Expression of Concern if:

  • There is well-founded evidence of research or publication misconduct, but an investigation is ongoing or inconclusive.

  • The investigation into an allegation is taking an extended period, and the journal feels a temporary warning to the scholarly community is necessary.

An Expression of Concern will be linked to the published article until a definitive resolution is reached.

4. Retractions

Articles may be retracted post-publication in severe cases of research or publication misconduct, significant scientific errors, or copyright infringements, in accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines.

  • Grounds for Retraction: Unreliable findings due to clear misconduct (e.g., data fabrication/falsification) or honest error, plagiarism, duplicate publication without disclosure, or unethical research practices.

  • Process: Retractions may be initiated by the journal editors or requested by the authors/their institutions following an investigation.

  • Retraction Notice: A formal Retraction Notice titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" will be published in the current issue and linked to the original paper.

  • Article Status: The original article PDF will be marked with a prominent "RETRACTED" watermark on each page to prevent further citation of flawed work, but the original text will remain available on the journal portal for archival transparency.
