Correction and Retraction Policy
Jurnal Teknologi dan Manajemen Informatika (JTMI) is committed to maintaining the integrity, quality, and permanence of the scholarly record. Once an article is published, it constitutes a permanent part of the scientific literature. However, occasionally, errors or ethical issues arise that require post-publication updates, corrections, or retractions.
JTMI follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for issuing corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern.
1. Article Corrections
JTMI recognizes two main types of article corrections:
-
Corrigendum (Author Correction): Issued when an important error or omission was introduced by the author(s) during research or manuscript preparation (e.g., error in a formula, mislabeled chart, typo in an author's name/affiliation, or omitted grant acknowledgment) that affects the article's clarity without compromising the main findings or conclusions.
-
Erratum (Publisher Error): Issued when a significant error was introduced by the journal during the production, copyediting, or layout process (e.g., missing text during typesetting or corrupted image display).
Process for Corrections:
-
A formal correction notice will be published in the next available issue and linked directly to the original article.
-
The online version of the original article will be updated or linked to the correction notice.
-
The correction notice will clearly state what was changed and the reason for the change.
2. Expressions of Concern
The Editor-in-Chief may issue an Expression of Concern if:
-
There is inconclusive evidence of research or publication misconduct by the authors.
-
There is an ongoing investigation by an institution or independent body regarding the validity of the published work, but a final outcome is pending.
-
A dispute or complaint regarding the paper’s integrity has been raised, and the situation cannot be resolved quickly.
An Expression of Concern is attached directly to the published article on the journal website to inform readers while the investigation proceeds.
3. Article Retractions
Retraction is a mechanism for correcting the literature and alerting readers to publications that contain severely flawed or unreliable data/conclusions.
Criteria for Retraction: In accordance with COPE Retraction Guidelines, an article will be retracted if:
-
There is clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of major scientific error or misconduct (e.g., data fabrication or falsification).
-
The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification (redundant/duplicate publication).
-
The article constitutes plagiarism or major self-plagiarism.
-
The research contains severe ethical violations or unethical human/animal testing practices.
Process for Retractions:
-
A formal Notice of Retraction titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" will be published in the current issue and linked to the original paper.
-
The notice will clearly explain the reasons for retraction and state who is retracting the paper (e.g., authors, editors, or publisher).
-
To preserve the historical scientific record, the original article PDF will not be completely removed. Instead, it will remain available on the journal website, but with a clear watermark reading "RETRACTED" displayed across every page of the PDF.
4. Contact for Corrections and Queries
