Journal Overview
EnJourMe (English Journal of Merdeka): Culture, Language, and Teaching of English is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Universitas Merdeka Malang, Indonesia, through its Diploma 3 English Program. The journal is registered under electronic ISSN 2502-5740.
EnJourMe publishes scholarly contributions on language, literature, culture, communication, and language education. English studies constitute an important part of its scholarly identity, while contributions involving other languages and cultural contexts are also considered when they address questions within the journal’s stated scope.
The journal welcomes submissions from researchers, educators, and practitioners whose work offers clear theoretical, methodological, or practical contributions. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal.
Objectives
EnJourMe aims to advance scholarly understanding of language, literature, culture, and language education through the publication of original research and critical scholarship.
The journal provides a forum for examining language practices, literary and cultural representations, intercultural communication, and language teaching and learning. It encourages contributions that connect clearly defined scholarly problems with appropriate methods, well-supported analysis, and relevant implications for research or practice.
Focus and Scope
EnJourMe considers manuscripts addressing the following interconnected areas:

Language and Linguistics: Theoretical and applied linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, multilingualism, and language variation.

Literature and Cultural Studies: Literary criticism, comparative literature, children’s literature, cultural identity, cultural representation, and relationships between language, literature, and society.

Language Education and English Language Teaching: Language learning and teaching, teacher education, classroom practices, curriculum design, and English for specific or academic purposes.

Materials Development and Evaluation: The design, development, implementation, and evaluation of language-learning materials and educational resources.

Language Assessment: Language testing, assessment practices, assessment literacy, and the development and validation of assessment instruments.

Translation and Interpreting: Translation practices, audiovisual translation, literary translation, localization, and intercultural mediation.

Technology in Language Learning and Communication: Computer-assisted and mobile-assisted language learning, digital literacy, online learning, artificial intelligence, and digital communication.

Communication and Multimodal Discourse: Interpersonal, intercultural, professional, and media communication, including the interpretation of verbal, visual, and other meaning-making resources.
Interdisciplinary submissions are considered when their relationship to the journal’s focus is explicit. Manuscripts should explain their contribution to the relevant field rather than merely describe a new location, text, population, or technological application.
Manuscript Types
EnJourMe accepts the following manuscript types:

Original Research Articles: Reports of empirical research presenting a clearly defined problem, appropriate methodology, findings, critical discussion, and conclusions supported by the evidence.

Conceptual and Theoretical Articles: Contributions that develop, examine, or refine concepts, arguments, models, or theoretical perspectives through critical scholarly analysis.

Review Articles: Critical syntheses of relevant literature that explain their approach to selecting and analysing sources and offer insights beyond a descriptive summary.
Studies involving materials development or evaluation should be submitted under the manuscript type that corresponds to their research design. All submissions must follow the journal’s Author Guidelines.

EnJourMe publishes two issues annually:

Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year. Publication is subject to completion of editorial assessment, peer review, revision, and final editorial approval. Submission does not guarantee acceptance or publication in a particular issue.
Publisher and Journal Management
EnJourMe is published by Universitas Merdeka Malang, Indonesia, through the Diploma 3 English Program.

Publishing Platform
- EnJourMe uses Open Journal Systems (OJS) to manage manuscript submission and the editorial publication workflow. Authors should submit manuscripts and follow editorial instructions through the journal’s submission system.
