Focus and Scope

EnJourMe is a scholarly journal that publishes original research and critical scholarship in the fields of language, literature, culture, communication, and language education. The journal welcomes studies from diverse linguistic and cultural contexts and encourages interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. While English studies remain an important area of the journal, EnJourMe also welcomes research involving other languages, literatures, cultures, and educational contexts.

The scope of EnJourMe includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

• Language and Linguistics: Theoretical and applied linguistics, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, morphology, phonetics and phonology, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, corpus linguistics, multilingualism, and language variation.

• Literature and Literary Studies: Literary criticism, literary theory, comparative literature, contemporary literature, children's literature, digital literature, and the study of literary works from diverse linguistic and cultural traditions.

• Culture and Cultural Studies: Cultural identity, intercultural communication, cultural representation, cultural heritage, globalization, popular culture, media, and cross-cultural studies.

• Language Education and Pedagogy: Language teaching and learning, curriculum and instructional design, classroom practices, teacher education, learner development, multilingual education, and innovative approaches to language pedagogy.

• English Language Teaching (ELT): English as a Foreign Language (EFL), English as a Second Language (ESL), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and other contexts of English language education.

• Language Materials Development and Evaluation: Development, adaptation, implementation, and evaluation of language-learning materials and educational resources.

• Language Testing and Assessment: Language assessment, testing practices, assessment literacy, evaluation, and the development and validation of language assessment instruments.

• Translation and Interpreting: Translation studies, interpreting, audiovisual translation, localization, literary translation, and intercultural mediation.

• Technology and Digital Language Studies: Computer-assisted language learning (CALL), mobile-assisted language learning (MALL), online and blended learning, digital literacy, artificial intelligence in language education, and emerging technologies for language and communication.

• Communication and Discourse: Interpersonal and intercultural communication, professional and academic communication, discourse studies, multimodal communication, and communication in digital and professional contexts.

EnJourMe welcomes empirical research, conceptual studies, literature reviews, and critical review articles that offer significant theoretical, methodological, or practical contributions to the fields within its scope. The journal particularly encourages research that engages with diverse languages, cultures, educational contexts, and emerging interdisciplinary issues.

Language of the Manuscript

All manuscripts submitted to EnJourMe must be written in English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript uses clear, accurate, and consistent academic English throughout.

Words, phrases, or expressions from languages other than English should be italicized and, where necessary, accompanied by an English translation or explanation at their first occurrence. Proper names, established terms, and words that have been fully adopted into English do not need to be italicized.

For example:

The Indonesian concept of gotong royong emphasizes collective cooperation and mutual assistance.

Authors should maintain consistent use of italics for non-English terms throughout the manuscript.
